I originally planned to release these as a commercial product, but I’ve been sitting on them for about a year now and I think the time for that has passed… sooo… I’m going to give them to you all for free. There are 2 sets that I had made, this is the first one. It’s a set of 6 different uniform styles for the V4/A4 schoolgirl outfit from Daz. This one is called School Friends. The other one is called Rival Schools. I may release it here later.

Mini Tut: Tinting or Recoloring Textures
Ok, I’m a couple days late and about a tutorial short… But I mean well. Here’s what I have done today.
So, you’ve got the perfect item of clothing for your scene… right style, right vibe… but despite the fact that it comes with several textures, none of them are just the right color. What do you do? Well you could go into Photoshop and make your own texture… but that would take forever. Or, if you have a light colored texture with not too much color variation, you could just change the color in the surfaces tab.
This one may be obvious to some people, but it’s a really useful tool if you want to change the color of a surface without messing about in Photoshop for ages. What we’re going to do here is just change the color of something that’s already got a diffuse texture map on it, just by changing the diffuse color. The image to the side here shows the render I’m working on at the moment. I’ve just started it, so besides adding some lights, clothing and getting the skin texture and morphs how I want them, I haven’t done much. The issue here is the vest. It has a texture already, but it’s too pink… I want to make it more purple. So this is what we do:
WoW Name Generators (Yet Another Random Project)
Just in the interest of having everything linked together on my page, I’m going to post a link to another random project of mine… A set of name generators for World of Warcraft characters. Why did I make them? Mainly because I didn’t think anyone else had done it yet. There’s one for each gender/race combination, and one for guilds. So here they are, in all their unfinished glory:
World Of Warcraft Name Generators
As for the normal content of this site, I hope to get a tutorial or two done later today…
Mini Tut: Making Stuff Glow in the Dark
Ok, so over in the ambient settings tutorial I mentioned that you could use ambient settings to make things glow in the dark. Here’s the tutorial that shows in a little more detail how you can accomplish this.
Daz Tutorial: Ambient Settings
Yes, I’m still alive! I kind of abandoned this page for a while and I feel bad about that, but what can I do now other than just jump right back into the tutorials. Hopefully I don’t get sidetracked this time and I can finally get this project done! I’ve upgraded myself to DazStudio 3 now, but rather than go back and change things, I’m just going to soldier on. Hopefully this doesn’t confuse anyone ^^; Most of the settings should be the same anyhow. On to the Ambient tutorial!
Moving Sucks.
So, I haven’t dissapeared again… I’m just moving. Not to another web address, so you don’t have to change your bookmarks or anything; this is a physical world move. I spent the entire weekend hauling boxes into my new place, my computer isn’t even unpacked yet, and we probably won’t have an internet connection this week (I’m posting this at work… we’re not open yet
). And it’s -30 outside… bleh…
So more tuts are coming… just not yet. And the townhouse that we’re moving into is going to become a project in itself, so hopefully I’ll have something to write on that soon…
Daz Tutorial: Specular Settings
Wow, ok, it’s been a long time since I wrote the last instalment of my tutorial series, but I’m going to try and get back in the saddle with it, so to speak. If you just jumped in here, you might want to head over to my tutorial page and start from the beginning. So, here I go, starting with what is probably one of the more useful and easy to understand parts of the Surfaces Tab. Let’s get started.
Good News and Bad News
Good news first. I’m updating this page again! Which means more tutorials and general 3D stuff. I’ve also got a brand new pretty theme from the-cloisters.net. I only had to modify it a teeny bit. Just because I have “blue” in my domain name… Annnd I have started on some new projects that will probably find their way onto this website at some point.
Which brings me to the bad news…
How to get candlewax off of a mousepad.
So last night I managed to splatter candle wax across my husband’s mouse pad. His expensive, humongous gaming mouse pad. Surprisingly enough, to me anyhow, I could locate nothing on Google on how to remove said wax from said mouse pad. There’s some general info on mouse pad maintenance, but nothing at all about wax. So here it is, my official tutorial:
Daz Tutorial: Diffuse Settings
Welcome to the second part of my comprehensive Surfaces Tab tutorial; this part is dedicated to the Diffuse settings. Ok, so we’ve got our file open and we’re ready to go. What, you don’t? Well go back and read the first tutorial if you want to get the file to follow along with. Otherwise, you’ll just have to trust my screenies/renders to see that it works, which isn’t so bad really.
Some of the information in these tutorials may seem pretty obvious to experienced users, but there are probably a few tidbits here and there that even oldbies might find useful. That being said, I can be long winded and pedantic at times, so if you want to get to the “point” straight away, there will be a box at the bottom of this tutorial, and the other tutorials in this series, that will explain exactly what you can do with the settings in question without going into all the pedantic details. Eventually, some of the points in those little boxes will link to mini-tutorials on the subjects. Anyhow, let’s get onto the theory.
